A Weekend in Mendocino
You cannot go wrong with choosing Mendocino for a relaxing weekend getaway. It's quiet, beautiful, and hospitable. We choose to stop in Boonville and Philo on our way up. Boonville is one of those 'blink and you'll miss it' towns. It's pretty adorable and I recommend eating at Table 128 for dinner if you're in the area. It's inside the Boonville Hotel that's pictured below.
While passing through Boonville, it was too early for dinner so we stopped at Stone and Ember in Philo. The pizza was delicious and topped with fancy local ingredients.
I'm a jam-acholic (and 90 years old apparently), so we make a quick stop at Philo Apple Farm. You can actually stay here and take cooking classes. This jam is so worth the $18. Trust me. I put a twenty dollar bill in the jar and fully abide by their cute honor system.
We finally made it to Mendocino. We stayed at the Brewery Gulch Inn. This is my second experience staying at a Bed and Breakfast and boy was it delightful. The minute you arrive to the minute you are waving goodbyes, you are being taken care of. The rooms are lovely. (I think they all come with a fireplace too.) I stayed in the Redwood room. It had french doors leading out onto the lawn with a view of the ocean. It was also raining that weekend. Opening those doors to the sound of rain was pretty dreamy.
The Brewery Gulch owners made it very hard to leave the property. We did venture out to downtown Mendocino for a bite to eat and some shopping. The town is darling. It's filled with little cottages.
This weekend was so lovely. I cannot wait to go back to Brewery Gulch Inn and play Scrabble. Make Mendocino your next weekend getaway!
